Political Photo Op: Bob Bergdhal and the President in the Rose Garden

Last year Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was released from his Taliban-associated Haqqani terrorist captors in Afghanistan in a trade for five top Taliban terrorists who were being held inside the Guantanamo Detection Center in Cuba. While the White House hailed the trade as a victory for the US in their never ending campaign for leaving no solider behind, others, like Bergdhal’s own brothers in arms, immediately recognized the trade as a dangerous political maneuver, even going as far as to point out that the captured soldier wasn’t captured at all, but voluntarily walked away, or deserted, his post. But this didn’t stop President Barack Obama from presiding as a Master of Ceremonies at a White House Rose Garden gathering in which the released soldier’s father spontaneously began quoting from the Koran. “Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim,” announced a heavily bearded Bob Bergdhal, which when interpreted means, “In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Compassionate.”

Here are five reasons why releasing Bowe Bergdhal in exchange for the Taliban 5 was so dangerous, and why Barack Obama may himself face criminal indictment for it.

--The Taliban terrorists who were released to Qatar, will eventually get back into the terrorist racket and once more, become a lethal enemy of the US. Three of the so-called Taliban Five have already made contact with other Jihadists, or so CNN reported on January 29 of this year.
--Releasing a suspected deserter such as Bergdhal was a slap in the face to other US soldiers who not only fought bravely on the field of battle, but who also lost their lives in the search for Bowe Bergdhal.
--Traditionally, the US has never negotiated with terrorists in fear of setting a precedent that would make every soldier and/or citizen stationed or traveling abroad a terrorist target. Since Obama’s negotiations with the Taliban, the dangers of innocent westerners being captured, held for ransom, and/or killed by terrorists abroad has increased dramatically.
--America is now seen as weak. Once considered the strongest and most steadfast of the world super powers, America has become considerably weaker in the eyes of the world, including Russia, since the Bergdhal exchange. This shift in America's global standing has not happened by accident, but is a strategic maneuver on the part of the President who appears to loathe the US to such an extent, that he is forging an alliance with Iran, the enemy, while breaking bonds with Israel and NATO. Clearly, the President has an agenda, and it is not a pretty one for Americans.

--The President of the United States’ first priority is the security of its people. President Obama was not acting on behalf of the American people and their security when he initiated the exchange for Sgt. Bowe Bergdhal. Bergdahl was not sick or near death as Obama and his minions had originally asserted. He had not acted honorably on the field of battle. He was not courageous. He was a deserter and soldiers died trying to locate him. Obama was acting on behalf of his own political agenda when he traded with the enemy for Bergdhal...an agenda that includes the closing of the Guantanamo Bay detention facility, which ironically, has now become a political pipe dream given the Middle East's and North Africa's current swift and rapid deteriorating political situation.

Travel Alert: It's Now Open Season on Americans Heading Abroad

This a warning to all Americans traveling outside the domestic US. You are in danger.

In the wake of the Obama Administration's negotiations with the Taliban to free Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl from his five year POW captivity, you will now have a price on your head. You will be fair game for any Al Qaeda linked or inspired group or even individual who wishes to not only fill his or her pockets with American greenbacks, but also in the process, perhaps work up an exchange for a radical Muslim terrorist now under detention at Gitmo. You know, your life in exchange for the life of a mass murderer.

I'm not about to get into the politics involved here or the timing amidst the VA scandal or the horrid foreign affairs speech Obama delivered last week to graduating West Point cadets. I'm not going to get into the fact that going forward with the release without giving Congress 30 days notice is illegal. I'm not going to comment on Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel's optimism that the prisoner exchange (five terrorists for a single POW) “...will present an opening” of further negotiations between the US and the Taliban (Huh? Since when did the Taliban go from terrorist organization to sovereign nation status?). I'm not even going to get into the fact that Bergdhal was not only drunk when he was captured by the Taliban, he had drifted far away from his post in what some fellow soldiers described as an attempt at "desertion," and that just prior to his "capture" he wrote to his parents, I'm “ashamed to even be American.”

I'm not going to get into any of that.

But what I will say is this: American's traveling abroad and especially alone, must now act with extreme vigilance, which means if it's possible to have eyes installed in the back of your head, do it. Obama's America has shown itself not only to be open to negotiations with terrorists but extremely willing to continue to do so (Short-timer Obama Press Secretary Jay Carney tried to spin his way out of using the "N" word during this morning's press briefing due to the fact that we're dealing with an American POW here and not a civilian hostage, but his argument was profoundly and disturbingly weak. A negotiation is a negotiation no matter what you label it. No wonder he's getting the hell out of Dodge).

Very likely, Obama will have his chance over the the course of his remaining two years to practice his new found craft of negotiation and what amounts to collaboration with the terrorist network (if collaboration seems too strong a word, remember, the unknown sum of money we also paid out to free the soldier isn't going to go to new hospitals and schools. It will go to the Taliban fighting machine.)

I travel abroad upwards of three to four months out of the year. Next week I'll head to India and Nepal and while terrorist activities aren't nearly as rampant in these places as say, nearby Pakistan, the opportunity exists for something bad to happen now that open season has been declared on US citizens. Not even travelers visiting seemingly safe places like Rome, Paris, and London will be immune.

Perhaps it's time the major media stopped hiding behind a cloud of political correctness and fear of being labeled racist by making Barack Hussein Obama II accountable for what will surly become some magnificently ill-fated foreign policy decisions that achieve nothing more than undermining America's international interests and its overall security. But then, what the hell, the guy we didn't "leave behind" is ashamed to be an American. I can't help but wonder how Obama truly feels about being an American.

BO's Last Call for Alcohol!

"Hey, Joe, you gonna hurl?"

There's nothing I like more than cracking a cold one at the end of long working day. Apparently so does BO. He also likes to light up a Marlboro Red on occasion. This week his doctors told him to lay off both vices. But I have advice for BO: smoke 'em if you got 'em and drink if you're dry. You have the most stressful job in the world and even though other countries like to think we're losing our overall world power status, you don't see Haiti or Chile looking to Iran or Syria for assistance with their tragic earthquake disasters. Come to think of it, I'm going to have my accountant withhold 20 bucks on my Federal tax return just so BO can run out for a 12 pack of Bud and a pack of smokes.

Iran’s First Strike Ambitions

November 4, 1979: The free world watches in collective disgust as 53 Americans are taken hostage by a group of Iranian Islamist student radicals and held at gunpoint inside an overrun American embassy in Tehran. Nightly television news broadcasts display painful-to-watch video footage of blindfolded and wrist-bound embassy workers being dragged and paraded in front of a jeering, unruly, hateful mob chanting anti-American slogans like “Death to America” while burning the stars-and-stripes in the streets.
Thus begins the Iranian Revolution. It also begins the dismantling of a difficult Carter presidency already tarnished by skyrocketing inflation, unemployment and recession. When nearly a year and a half of negotiations on behalf of the administration breaks down, the lame duck president has no choice but to enlist the help of the military to conduct a rescue operation.
But for Carter, a diplomat and future Nobel Peace Prize recipient, and anti-military liberal, soliciting help from his own military is a final option tentatively entered into. It’s no wonder that when Operation Eagle Claw, as it’s called, is enacted, its results are disastrous, culminating in the crash of two aircraft and eight American servicemen. As the world watches stunned, the once powerful US is now looked upon as weak and sadly out of touch with the new radical thugs who look upon their Islamist leader, the Ayatollah Khomeini, as a living Allah.
Fast forward three decades, dozens of deadly terrorist attacks in America and abroad, and Iran is once again poised to take more hostages. Only this time, instead of grabbing hold of 50-plus embassy workers, they’re going after something a little more ambitious. Nothing less than global domination. In other words, Iran is about to take the world hostage by bringing online a nuclear weapons arsenal that is not only designed to obliterate Israel, but also Western Europe and the US.
Just yesterday, the New York Times reported that Iran’s foreign minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, issued a warning to the West “that it had one month to accept Iran’s counterproposal to a deal brokered by the United Nations aimed at slowing the Iranian nuclear program, or else Iran would begin further enriching its nuclear fuel stockpile on its own.”
Mottaki, who issued his “ultimatum” before state television cameras in Cairo only two days after missing their UN deadline, stated explicitly that his country, acting on orders from its radical leader, President Mahmoud Ahmadinjad, that it has the ability to “enrich its stockpile of low-enriched uranium to 20-percent.” If Mottaki is indeed telling the truth, a 20-percent enrichment will at least be enough to produce a crude version of modern nuclear warhead.
With Iran’s nuclear program said to be as much a symbol of national pride as is their radically Islamist anti-West beliefs, some world leaders view Mottaki’s swagger as a diversionary tactic meant to shift attention away from the country’s ever-crumbling social order that’s come about in the wake of Ahmadinjad’s having stolen the presidential election back in June. With anti-Ahmadinjad protestors being yanked off the streets, beaten, jailed and in some cases, killed, Iran is looking more and more like the Nazi Germany of pre-World Way II, say, less than a year before Panzers Blitzkrieged their way into Poland.
Iran’s official stance on building up their nuclear stockpile is for energy needs. But given the government’s tendency towards bullying anything and anyone who stands in their way of destroying the West, perhaps they should look into more green and sustainable energy alternatives like solar and wind power. Since it looks like Tehran is not going to abide by the UN proposal and abandon their nuclear ambitions under any circumstance, Obama, like Carter thirty years before him, is going to attempt to impose “harsh financial sanctions” on Iran.
But will sanctions hurt the Iranian people?
Almost definitely, which is why Washington is trying to tiptoe it’s way around the harsh reality of war, trying to figure out a gentler way of imposing penalties on government institutions and officials, rather than the general public at large. Kind of the diplomat’s version of the “smart bomb.” How realistic is this scenario? On a scale from 1 to 10, sanctions aimed at specific government targets probably weighs in at around a minus 3.
What should be done to stop Iran’s nuclear ambition in its tracks?
Nothing short of military intervention, should it come to that. Unlike Iraq nearly a decade ago, at least this time, we know for certain a nuclear stockpile exists and that its purpose is none other than to destroy the peace-loving free world.
Iran’s defiance is not based upon its energy needs. It’s based upon its lust for a nuclear arsenal with which is can terrorize the globe. The fact that the defiance is occurring during political upheaval which includes the outright killing of eight protestors alone this past Sunday, is not indiscriminate. According to one anonymous Washington, DC-based Iranian official, “I am sure that, in light of the recent events much more than in the past, the Revolutionary Guards and Ahmadinejad would love the new heightened tension with the US and the West.” He also goes on to say that harsh sanctions could work against the free world by unifying the Iranian people.
The people who were arrested, tried and executed within a matter of hours this past Sunday were charged with “desecrating the values of the Islamic Revolution.” Those values are none other than the fiery annihilation of the West and Israel. While members of the Iranian press and media are being arrested and no doubt face their own lengthy jail sentences and/or execution, Tehran will continue to defy the UN and proceed with its nuclear ambitions. Not for energy, but in order to achieve a first-strike capability.
Back in the late 1930s, while Prime Minister Chamberlin received an appeasing “nonaggression” promise from Hitler which he was certain would guarantee “peace for our time,” Ernest Hemingway was warning the world that the recent Fascist-backed revolution in Spain was just the precursor to a “long planned murder” which would no doubt engulf the entirety of Europe and the world. Obviously, unlike Chamberlain and other would-be diplomats, Hemingway had the gift for being able to look something in the face and knowing exactly what it was. That face bore a tiny, if not comical mustache, and it personally authorized the murder of millions.
“I expect the regime to further intimidate the people,” says Abbas Milani, a critic of Ahmadinejad and his murderous band of revolutionary thugs and criminals. But what President Obama should expect is that unless he takes a good hard look at his Nobel Peace Prize and realizes that sooner than later, a military option just might be the only true solution to preserving that peace, he might wake up one night to a nuclear mushroom cloud rising above Israel and the West.

Flight 253: A Wakeup Call to War!

On Christmas day, a Muslim radical who was allowed to fly on a commercial jet deliberately set out to commit mass murder by attempting to blow the plane out of the sky. Is Obama being tough enough when it comes to national security? Does he need to personally declare war on Muslim radicals? Check out the story here on RT's Dangerous Dispatches:
