In Search of St. John the Apostle!

What can you write when you come face to face with John the Apostle's tomb. John was personally appointed by Jesus to take care of his mother. Question is, why didn't Jesus entrust his brother James?

Destination Kas, Turkey!

3.5 hours drive over the mountains (some of them snowcapped) to the sea-side town of Kas. Along the way stopped to view more Roman ruins, curiously enough, in Myra where ole' Saint Nicholas (Yup Santa) was born and died around 375 or so (no one really knows when). But his bones were stolen around 1050 and shipped to Italy.

Outside Museum Outside Goreme!

Great morning of exploring the many ancient churches carved out of the stone monoliths not far from Goreme's very cool, very adventurous downtown. The churches are stunning due to the preservation of the old religious artwork and carvings.

7th Century Church Discoverd by the Crusaders!

After a three mile climb into the valley, we come upon just one of many ancient churches. These are the same churches that were discovered by the crusaders in the 1100s and beyond.

Going Underground, East Turkey!

The ancient caves located not far from the cave city of Goreme are not for the faint of heart, physically or psychologically if you're claustrophobic. But I couldn't resist, crawling into some ancient tombs. In fact, I can never resist me a good tunnel exploration.

Call to Prayer!

The call to prayer woke me from a sound sleep this morning.

Never Get Out Of The Boat!

The Bosporus is the gateway to the Black Sea among others. It's a direct connection to the war in Ukraine and where the Russians wish to grasp full control, if only they could. It remains a source of tension while Turkey tries to negotiate a peace between both sides. Russian "spies" have been ordered not to eat or drink at these meetings, or so states UK's INews.
