The publishing business is full of shysters and scammers. The author/writer rarely knows what goes on behind the scenes of a publishing house or even his or her literary agency for that matter. For all you know, they are manipulating your sales, or your prices to please their bottom-line or tax return. In the end, they are going to do their best to deny you royalties. Take my word for it.
